+# LinuxCNC Submodule Local Changes
+
+The root repository pins the `linuxcnc` submodule at
+`239dcf4284762ad7e9c65d390bc5524d855c2f8e`.
+
+Local source-oracle and simulation configuration changes that cannot be
+represented by the unchanged submodule pointer are archived in
+`patches/linuxcnc-working-tree.patch`.
+
+From the repository root, restore them to a clean submodule checkout with:
+
+```sh
+git submodule update --init linuxcnc
+git -C linuxcnc apply ../patches/linuxcnc-working-tree.patch
+```
+
+The patch includes tracked modifications and the untracked configuration files
+present when the root project was saved.
